Is there a lack of trust for today’s young plumbers?

A recent study from WaterSafe has revealed that age is a large determining factor when it comes to homeowners deciding on which plumber to use in the UK.

Statistics from the leading plumbing assurance scheme’s study show 50% of homeowners prefer plumbers to be aged between 36 and 49 years old, followed by another 24% opting for those aged 50 and over.  This left only 21% of poll consumer’s votes for plumbers aged 26 to 35 and a shocking 4% for those aged 18 to 25.

New Branch Open Now!

Newest branch in Halifax located on Queens RoadWe are proud to announce that our newest branch in Halifax opened it's doors on Monday 3rd August. Our new branch manager Mark Dowson and his team are ready to deal with your enquiries.

The 10,000 sq ft unit is located on Queens Road. It is an exciting addition to the company as we extend from being plumbers merchants of Leeds. We carry a vast range of products at a time when others in our industry are cutting back on stockholding.

Preventing Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

You can’t smell it, it has no taste and it can’t be seen. No surprise then that every year carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning causes an alarming amount of serious injuries and deaths throughout the UK. The gas is produced when carbon-based fuels fail to burn properly. If inhaled it can stop oxygen reaching your organs, cells and tissues. As well as the risk of death prolonged exposure to the gas can leave people with paralysis and brain damage.

Combustion appliances of any kind run the risk of releasing carbon monoxide into your home. The most likely of these appliances are central heating boilers, fireplaces and water heaters. There are certain signs to look out for that can indicate that complete combustion is not being achieved. For example, brown and yellow staining as well as soot collecting around appliances would suggest there is a problem. Windows with increased condensation, frequently blown pilot lights and orange or yellow pilot flames also imply the possibility of an issue with combustion.
